One Day in Paris

one day in paris

One day in Paris… what could you possibly get done in one day? What a travesty! It’s almost not worth going at all!!

Calm down, no need to be dramatic (however Parisian that would make you). What if I told you it is entirely possible to take in the French flair of their capital city in just 24 hours? You’d be pretty ecstatic, wouldn’t you? That is actually plenty of time to see many of the sights. Seeing inside Sacre Coeur (pictured above): 20-30 minutes. Seeing the art of the Louvre: about an hour and a half, before you hit sensory overload. What does take up the majority of your time? Looking at a map. Planning your precious time as you go, and usually ending up bouncing all over the city like a pinball in one of those arcade machines. C’est bizarre!

Lucky for you wise travelers, my friends over at have created this infographic to take the guess work out of how to spend one day in Paris.

They have mapped out all the major sights of Paris that simply can’t be missed, and included all the information on hours of operation. It also, and those of you familiar with Paris may notice, maps the sights from the north to south. This way you won’t lose daylight acting like that pinball. It is an ambitious schedule, but I assure you, it is possible. Especially if you do a little pre-planning. I’ll let you in on a couple hints: if you enter the shopping center that is below the Louvre and go in the museum below the famous pyramid, the lines are much shorter. AND you can pre-order tickets to Musée D’Orsay and skip the long lines there too. That saves loads of time, and energy! You’ll need to get up early, but the French have fabulous coffee to help with that small issue. And you’ll probably be up late, but again, Paris has that covered. Who wouldn’t want to spend their perfect day in Paris sipping champagne, watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle? Shows happen every hour on the hour after dark, up until 1am, and 2am during the longer summer months.

  • I’ve been to Paris countless times and I’ve visited everything on their map (most more than once) EXCEPT their number one must see – Sacre Coeur! Luckily I’ll be in Paris again this weekend so I’m definitely going to have to put that right! 🙂

    • Ahh you must see the Sacre Coeur!! It’s an amazing building, and the views of the city are fantastic. It’s a bit touristy in the streets at the top of the hill there, but they’re still charming. And if you go to Metro stop Abbesses there’s a big blue tile wall that has I Love You written in pretty much every different language, which is pretty cool. 🙂

      • Thanks for the tips, Amy! I’m definitely going to drop by at some point this weekend. I’ve just found your “Top Ten: Paris Like A Local” post too, which I’m reading with great interest! 🙂

        • Ah excellent!! I think you will have a fabulous weekend there, because how could you not have a fabulous weekend there? 😉 Let me know if you have any other questions or anything – I would be happy to help! 🙂

  • I am going to Paris for 2 days this weekend! I have just sent this post to my friend to see how much we can pack in 😉

    • Excellent!! You are going to have a fabulous time. If you need any tips on areas to stay or cool restaurants and places to check out, drop me an email. 🙂
